Days Of Innocence

Words: By Me :-p

I wrote this some time ago, but for some reason it came back into my head fairly recently. I can't find the original manuscript so I've had to piece this together from memory. I'll get round to sorting the end out when I find the original.

Walking backwards in the rain.
Wishing you were somewhere else,
Somewhere nice and warm.
[Remember] Sitting on your best friends bed,
Playing doctors and nurses.
But who touched who's forbidden fruit?
Ev'ry thing must change, 'cos nothing stays the same.
But that was long ago, back in the days of innocence.

Talking softly to yourself,
Thinking of mistakes that we conquered,
When all the world was fresh and green.
The pains of youthfullness sublime in their distress.
But that was long ago, back in the days of innocence.

Talk to me like lovers do.
Walk with me.
I want you to stay with me and we'll talk all night.
Just like we did before, back in the days of innocence.

Nothing happened Officer.
I swear I never took no advantage.
Her honour left intact with me.
I never would have guessed. I never should have said
Of all of my desires back in the days of innocence.

Talk to me like lovers do.
Walk with me.
I want you to stay with me and we'll talk all night.
Just like we did before, back in the days of innocence.

Talk to me like lovers do.
Walk with me, I want you to.
We never felt so happy, we'd never seen such joy.
I'd never been so happy, I'd never been so free,
Since back in the days of innocence.

Talk to me like lovers do.
Walk with me.
I want you to stay with me and we'll talk all night.
Just like we did before, back in the days of innocence.
